Takayama - Hokuriku Area Adult Japan Rail Pass:
- Unlimited rides on JR conventional lines running between Nagoya, Gero, Takayama - Toyama, and linking Kansai-airport, Osaka City area, Kyoto, Kaga-Onsen - Kanazawa, and “Hokuriku Shinkansen” running between Kanazawa - Toyama!
- Reserved seats on ordinary cars of JR conventional lines in the area can be used up to four times!
Major examples of using reserved seats on JR trains: Limited Express "Wide View Hida", Limited Express "Thunderbird" - Excluding reserved seats on the "Haruka Airport Express"
- Unlimited rides using non-reserved seats of ordinary cars on the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa - Toyama! (Excluding reserved seats)

- Non-reserved seats of ordinary cars of JR limited express, express, rapid, and ordinary trains between Nagoya - Toyama station (via Tokaido/Takayama lines), between Kanazawa - Kyoto station - stations within Osaka City area (via Hokuriku/Kosei/Tokaido lines), between stations within Osaka City area - Kansai-airport station (via Hanwa/Kansai-airport lines)
- Non-reserved seats of ordinary cars of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Toyama - Kanazawa station
- Nohi Bus/Hokutetsu Bus: Shirakawa-go/Kanazawa line between Takayama Nohi Bus Center – Shirakawa-go – Kanazawa (with some exceptions; reservations required)
- Kaetsuno Bus: World Heritage Bus between Shirakawa-go - Shin-Takaoka station
This pass does not allow you to travel on the Tokaido Shinkansen between Kyoto - Shin-Osaka station. Please be aware that to travel on the Tokaido Shinkansen, you will need to pay the required basic fare and any additional fees separately. Be aware that additional fees will also be required for reserved seats of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Toyama - Kanazawa station.
Point to note:
- Passes can only be used by the persons who have obtained them, and may not be transferred or loaned to anyone else.
- To begin using your pass at the station, have it stamped by station staff at the ticket gate.
- If dates change while you are on board, reaching the day following that of the end of the validity period, basic fares will remain valid until you exit the first ticket gate, and additional fees will remain valid until you get off the train you are traveling on the last day of the validity period.
- You will not be able to go through automatic ticket gates at the station with your pass. When going through ticket gates, choose manned ones, and show the pass to station staff to let them know about the validity period.
- Always have your passport with you during your trip, and be ready to present it if requested.
- Refunds of MCOs or passes
MCOs to be exchanged for passes can be refunded at the store of purchase for a year after issuance. * You may be separately charged a commission. We recommend that you exchange your MCO immediately preceding use.
Passes may not be extended or refunded due to the suspension of train services, delays or other reasons. Likewise, additional expenses for transportation, accommodation, etc. due to schedule changes will not be refunded. - Re-issuance is not possible.
MCOs and passes may not be reissued even if lost, stolen or soiled.
Using JR lines:
- This pass does not allow travel on the Green Car or Gran Class. Be aware that travel on the Green Car or Gran Class will require additional fees.
- The pass cannot be used on home liners and other liners. When using trains that require numbered tickets or liner tickets, you will be billed fees for numbered tickets or liner fees.
- The pass cannot be used on the Tokaido Shinkansen or sleeper trains. If you wish to ride the Tokaido Shinkansen or sleeper train, you will be separately required to pay basic fare and any additional fees.
- Refunds of basic fares and fees will not be issued, even if you do not use reserved seating the full four times allowed by the pass.
